Brachioplasty is a surgical procedure which removes loose skin and fat from the upper arm. It is often requested by patients who have lost a significant amount of weight and find that the arm skin has not tightened with the weight loss. It should only be done once the patient has reached their goal and their weight is stable. The trade-off is a medial arm scar extending from the under arm area to the elbow. Some patients do the surgery with the hope that they will be able to wear a sleeveless top. Unfortunately, they may find that the scar is noticeable enough that they aren’t comfortable wearing such a top. With massive weight loss, patients are often concerned about loose skin in other areas, and brachioplasty can be combined with other skin excision procedures such as mastopexy (breast lift) or abdominoplasty (tummy tuck). ...(more info available with login)
